How Urban Mojo Reiki became more than a "thing" and why reiki healing can help with general wellbeing and mental health
So here is the thing. I'm the creative type. I don't like sitting around. I don't get bored. I like to make things, grow things and experience different things...
My name is Sandra and I'm mum to two boys and have a husband whose job keeps us moving around a bit.
Urban Mojo was a name that came to mind as a very transferable name for different types of creative outlets. It doesn't limit you to one category. So, with my many interests, I thought I could do something, one day, with this name. Photography was a big interest of mine and still is. Growing my own herbs and having my own little apothecary when the cold season hits is another love.
I went through a time where I up cycled several pieces of furniture - until I ran out off space to put them in our little house and I couldn't bare to part with any of them... I also love interior design and renovating... All of these interests could work under Urban Mojo as my brand name. I just didn't start any of them seriously.
Then the pandemic hit.
At the time, I was living in London with my family - enjoying being closer to my birth place, Germany, and bringing its culture and my extended family closer to my boys. Unfortunately, we were trapped in London and couldn't travel to see my family in Germany. Like so many others, the mental health impact the pandemic had on me and on our family was huge. This is where Reiki came into my life. It helped me tremendously throughout different challenges of life with teenagers, moving cities or even countries every 2-3 years.
